Senior Data Engineer - Data Modeler Job Description

A senior data engineer with expertise in data modeling is required to lead our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in designing and implementing data models for complex analytics services, as well as working with hybrid data environments that leverage distributed and relational database technologies.

  • Create conceptual, logical, and physical data models using tools like ERwin, PowerDesigner, Enterprise Architect, and ER/Studio.
  • Design and implement dimensional data models for analytics services, ensuring scalability and performance.
  • Develop ETLs/ELTs to move large volumes of data from operational systems to dimensional data models.
  • Collaborate with the database engineering and DBAs to create optimal physical data models.
  • Manage data modeling repository and process, supporting model-driven development.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the design and implementation of complex data models for analytics services.
  • Work with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into data models.
  • Analyze and profile datasets to generate insights and guide teams on source-to-target mapping.
  • Define and govern data modeling/design standards, tools, best practices, and methodologies.
  • Champion data lineage, metadata management, and data quality analysis processes.
Requirements:
  • 10+ years of experience in hybrid data environments, leveraging distributed and relational database technologies.
  • Solid understanding of data warehousing principles, architecture, and implementation in complex environments.
  • Excellent data analysis skills and good experience in OLTP and OLAP systems.
  • Good understanding of one or more ETL tools and data ingestion frameworks.
  • Experience as a designer of complex dimensional data models for analytics services.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with experience in relating complex concepts to non-technical users.
