Job Overview

The Engineering Manager – Systems is a leader in developing innovative solutions and system design.

This individual will apply proven communication skills, problem-solving skills, translation of research to product development, and knowledge of best practices to guide their team on issues related to design, characterization, and verification testing, operations support, and product release.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plans, directs, and implements all aspects of system design, development, and validation of medical device systems and products.
  • Knowledge of product development, clinical, and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversees the investigation and evaluation of existing technologies in partnership with other units.
  • Leads the team in partnership with business for the development of new concepts from initial design to market release and sustain products already on the field.
  • Monitors documentation maintenance throughout all phases of development.
  • Organizes the coordination of activities across the product teams within a system development to ensure timely delivery of the system for design characterization, verification, and validation testing.
  • Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.
  • Poses strong technical leadership skills to guide and mentor team members involved in the system SI&T process.
  • Drives continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the systems verification and validation processes.
  • Communicates effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders, providing technical insights and updates on systems verification and validation progress.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's or master's degree required with Minimum of 15+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience managing a cross-functional engineering technical team size of 20 or more.
  • Provide a blend of people management and technical savviness.
  • Have a deep understanding of embedded and application SW development processes (Agile, waterfall methodology) and in establishing metrics & recommended processes for the team.
  • Experience with validation of test methods, hard and software, test fixtures.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge for how to manage teams in a large organization, especially at multiple locations and remotely.
  • Great communication skills: Strong ability to coordinate people and teams around unstructured challenges and moving project priorities.
  • Knowledge of product development workflow.
  • Knowledge of medical device development process: 60601, 13485, 62304. Not necessarily an expectation, but understand the work required to release medical products and the general process.
