About Our Edge Engineering Team

The Edge team is responsible for designing, building, and operating the infrastructure that enables seamless communication between our members and the application layer.


Your Role

In this critical role, you will be responsible for ensuring the overall health, performance, and capacity of our Internet-facing services. You will work closely with our team to build next-generation edge technologies from design to production.


Key Responsibilities:
  1. Serve as a primary point of contact for the overall health, performance, and capacity of one or more of our Internet-facing services.
  2. Gain in-depth knowledge of our complex applications to identify areas for improvement.
  3. Assist in the roll-out and ramp-up of new product features and technologies to facilitate our rapid iteration and constant growth.
  4. Develop tools to improve our ability to rapidly deploy and effectively monitor custom applications in a large-scale Linux environment.
  5. Function well in a fast-paced, rapidly-changing environment and participate in a 24x7 rotation for second-tier escalations.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in administration and troubleshooting of Unix/Linux systems.
  • 5+ years of coding experience in one or more programming languages like Rust, Go, Python, Perl, Ruby, etc.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience in UNIX-based large-scale web operations roles.
  • Experience with .NET, C#, Android or iOS development.
  • Experience in building systems automation and server backends with Python.
  • Experience with writing scalable programs in Rust/Golang/Python.
  • Previous experience working with geographically-distributed coworkers.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills (including listening, speaking, and writing) and ability to work well in a diverse, team-focused environment.
  • Knowledge of data structures, relational and non-relational databases, networking, Linux internals, filesystems, web architecture, and related topics.
