Job Overview

We are seeking a seasoned System Maintenance Specialist to join our team. This is an exceptional opportunity for a highly skilled professional to take on a challenging role that requires expertise in system maintenance, troubleshooting, and problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform regular system maintenance tasks including incident solving, change implementation, patch management, and analyzing/solving performance and security issues.
- Troubleshoot backup failure issues daily for Oracle, VMware, Filesystem, and resolve problems related to operating systems, databases, middleware, or applications teams.
- Assist end-users with Oracle restore failures and support change requests for backup infrastructure.
- Collaborate with vendors to resolve software and hardware issues until resolution is achieved.
- Participate in crisis calls, problem management calls, and escalated issues.
- Analyze backup failure trends, generate automation ideas to fix those trends, and implement solutions.
- Troubleshoot CommVault backup failures for IntelliSnap and Oracle backups, as well as Datadomain, NetBackup Appliance, and HyperScale issues.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you should have the following skills and qualifications:

- A minimum of 7+ years of experience as a NetBackup Administrator with a deep understanding of product features and troubleshooting techniques.
- Strong knowledge of various backup and restore methods, including VMWare, Oracle, Filesystem, and the ability to troubleshoot them effectively.
- Understanding of storage devices like NetBackup Appliances, Dell Data Domains, and the ability to troubleshoot problems on these devices.
- Sound knowledge of NetBackup SLP, Duplications, NetBackup Snapshot Manager, and reporting tools like NetBackup OpsCenter, Aptare IT Analytics, and Splunk.
- Understanding of platforms like SAN, NAS, Virtualization, and S3 protocols, as well as experience representing the team in Incident, Problem, and Crisis calls.
- Accountability for delivery - taking ownership of tasks assigned to ultimate resolution with minimal supervision.
- Understanding of storage policies, schedule policies, data aging concepts in CommVault, Oracle backups/restore integration with CommVault, configuration and troubleshooting of SAN Client backup (Fiber Transport), and clear understanding on SLP and Vault.
- Upgrading and patching the Backup servers.
