Electrical and Control Systems Design Assurance Specialist

We are seeking an Electrical and Control Systems Design Assurance Specialist to join our team in Mumbai, India. As a key member of our Technical Support Office, you will play a vital role in providing worldwide plan approval services to shipbuilders, ship owners, and manufacturers.
The primary responsibility of this role is to ensure the design aspects of marine electrical and control systems meet applicable international standards and class rules. You will use your expertise and experience to conduct thorough appraisals of plans for new building/conversion/existing vessels and provide technical support to designers and operators of ships and other marine platforms.

As an Electrical and Control Systems Design Assurance Specialist, you will be working as part of the Global Electrical & Control Discipline team, conducting design appraisal and consultancy against a range of Class Rules and statutory codes. Your primary focus will be on marine electrical/automation/electronic aspects for existing or new construction merchant ships, but there may be opportunities to be involved with other ship types and offshore projects based on business needs.
You will conduct approvals of electrical and control equipment and components against various statutory codes and Class Rules. Additionally, you will carry out Type Approval activity for electrical and control equipment. Building and maintaining good relationships with clients and internal stakeholders is also a critical aspect of this role.
Your technical advice will be sought by internal and external clients globally, including designers, shipyards, and other LR surveyors and specialists. You may be required to contribute to Rule Development Projects and Proposals to ensure our Rules remain up-to-date and aligned with the latest industry innovations.
In this role, you will produce deliverables within agreed parameters and review other employees' work when requested. Actively seeking client satisfaction and generating new opportunities with clients are essential duties of this position.
Conducting activities in line with internal procedures, accreditation schemes, legislation, and industry standards is mandatory.
This job description does not preclude the assignment of other duties by the Global Electrical & Control Discipline Manager or the line manager.
We are looking for a degree holder in Electrical Engineering, Electronic/Telecommunication Engineering, Marine Engineering, or equivalent from a recognized tertiary organization. Relevant experience in electrical and control designs, application of Class Rules to the design and construction of ships, and offshore or large naval auxiliaries is advantageous.
Membership of an appropriate professional institution and Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status are desirable. You should have the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, prioritize work, meet deadlines, and work effectively under pressure. Proficiency in English (written and oral) commensurate with the work and ability to write detailed technical reports and design appraisal documents are necessary skills.
