Job Title: Substation Engineer

Cleantech Industry Resources is seeking a highly skilled Substation Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and engineering electrical substation equipment and systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare general arrangement and elevation views, erection key diagrams, trench plans, lightning protection layouts, earthing layouts, illumination layouts, single line diagrams, three-line diagrams, protection line diagrams, and control building layouts.
  • Perform auxiliary load calculations, AC and DC cable sizing calculations, UPS, battery, and battery charger sizing calculations, control cable schedules, direct stroke lightning protection calculations, earthing calculations, short circuit force and cantilever strength calculations.
  • Prepare technical specifications for substation equipment and detailed bills of quantities that meet client, IEC, ANSI, and IEEE requirements.
  • Conduct grounding analysis using software and perform engineering calculations and reporting.
  • Review and approve all substation-related equipment and quality assurance of protection and control design drawings to ensure compliance with client and industry standards.
  • Provide leadership, training, and mentoring to less experienced engineers and team members.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.
  • Knowledge of electrical substation equipment.
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in design and engineering with power distribution and/or high voltage substations.
  • Experience in renewable energy (wind, solar, and energy storage) is an asset.
  • Strong understanding of electrical distribution systems and experience with electrical substation design.
  • Familiarity with NEC, NFPA, IBC, IEC, IEEE, and ANSI standards.
