Production Merchandiser Role

The Production Merchandiser plays a pivotal role in coordinating garment production, quality control, and delivery with precision.

This position involves overseeing process enhancements, performance monitoring, and collaborating with teams to achieve operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Selecting suitable fabrics, trims, and accessories for product development.
  • Developing samples in collaboration with the Production Manager to ensure design specifications are met.
  • Reviewing and approving samples to guarantee they meet quality standards.
Planning and Scheduling:
  • Developing yearly and monthly production plans based on order requirements and capacity.
  • Allocating resources, including materials and labor, effectively.
  • Ensuring timely delivery of products by proactively addressing any issues or delays.
Vendor Management:
  • Identifying and selecting reliable suppliers and manufacturers.
  • Negotiating contracts and pricing terms with vendors to secure favorable agreements.
  • Ensuring consistent quality and timely delivery of fabric and trims from vendors.
Costing and Budgeting:
  • Preparing accurate cost estimates for products, including materials, labor, and overhead.
  • Managing budgets and tracking expenses to ensure production costs remain within budget.
  • Identifying cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.
Quality Control:
  • Establishing quality standards and guidelines for production.
  • Conducting regular inspections and quality checks at various stages of production.
  • Implementing corrective actions with the production team to maintain high-quality standards.
Inventory Management:
  • Monitoring inventory levels of raw materials and finished goods.
  • Ensuring timely replenishment of materials to avoid production delays.
  • Managing stock levels to minimize excess inventory and reduce costs.
Production Coordination:
  • Coordinating with various production departments, including production and logistics.
  • Ensuring smooth communication and workflow between teams.
Documentation and Reporting:
  • Maintaining detailed records of production activities, including orders, deliveries, and inspections.
  • Preparing regular reports on production status, costs, and quality.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in textile engineering, fashion merchandising, or a related field.
  • More than 5 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Technical skills: knowledge of textile and garment manufacturing processes, production management software, and tools.
  • Soft skills: strong communication and interpersonal skills, excellent organizational and time-management abilities, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
  • Negotiation skills: ability to negotiate with vendors and manage relationships effectively.
