Job Summary



We are seeking a talented Cloud Network Engineer II who is passionate about network operations and has a deep understanding of WAN networking. As a key member of the Azure WAN Networking Team, you will be responsible for developing and managing the global WAN infrastructure.



With a focus on the global backbone network, you will work closely with partner teams to operate the network, troubleshoot performance issues, and develop advanced skills. This is a high-visibility position in an area of large and expanding investment for Microsoft Azure, offering opportunities for technical and career growth.



As a Cloud Network Engineer II, you will:




  • ​Triage and resolve low to medium-risk severity incidents within defined service level agreements (SLAs)
  • ​Collaborate with Tier-2 support teams to escalate and resolve issues as needed
  • ​Coordinate with on-site technicians to execute fiber maintenance activities safely and efficiently
  • ​Assist in the replacement of network hardware, including routers, line cards, and other components
  • ​Maintain accurate documentation of incidents, resolutions, and maintenance activities


Requirements:




  • 2+ years technical experience in network design, development, and automation
  • Experience working with L2/L3 switching platforms, application networking, and network protocols like BGP, OSPF, VRRP, LACP
  • Experience working in large-scale data center/cloud environments with an understanding of passive components (UTP Cabling, Optical cabling)
  • Experience in one or more programming languages: C++, Java, Python, Perl
  • Experience in understanding and authoring machine-readable formats like XML, JSON
  • Excellent communication skills and team player with ability to build solid relationships at all levels, across teams, geographies, and business functions
  • Good problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent judgment, decision-making skills, and the ability to work under continual deadline pressure when the situation is ambiguous


Preferred Qualifications:




  • 5+ years technical experience in network design, development, and automation
  • Networking certification will be a plus
