Search Quality Specialist

As a Search Quality Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the excellence of retail search integrations. Your expertise in Google Retail Search and proficiency in SQL will be instrumental in delivering exceptional customer experiences in e-commerce search environments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and execute test cases for Google Retail Search implementations to guarantee seamless user experiences.
  • Validate search relevance, ranking, and results quality across diverse e-commerce platforms to maintain the highest standards.
  • Perform end-to-end testing on data pipelines and integrations between GRS, BigQuery, and associated databases to ensure data accuracy and reliability.
  • Utilize complex SQL queries to validate datasets, perform data profiling, and verify ETL jobs to optimize data processing.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve issues, promoting a culture of collaboration and open communication.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive test documentation to facilitate knowledge sharing and streamline the testing process.
  • Explore opportunities for automation using QA tools and frameworks to enhance efficiency and productivity.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in QA or software testing roles, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality results.
  • Hands-on experience with Google Retail Search or similar retail search/AI-based search solutions, with a deep understanding of their functionality and limitations.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL, including the ability to write complex joins and data validation queries, to extract actionable insights from data.
  • Experience testing e-commerce search functionality, including relevance tuning, search metrics, and user behavior, to inform data-driven decision making.
  • Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and tools such as BigQuery, Cloud Storage, and Pub/Sub, to leverage cloud-based technologies and services.
  • Knowledge of QA methodologies, test plans, and defect management tools (e.g., Jira, TestRail), to ensure efficient issue tracking and resolution.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to break down complex issues into manageable components.
  • Superb communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with search analytics tools like Google Analytics, Algolia, or Elasticsearch, to gain deeper insights into user behavior and preferences.
  • Knowledge of test automation frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Playwright, Cypress), to accelerate testing cycles and improve overall efficiency.
  • Background in retail/e-commerce or working with product catalogs, to bring real-world expertise and context to your work.
  • Understanding of machine learning-driven search and personalization, to stay at the forefront of emerging trends and technologies.
