Job Title: Technical Superintendent

Roles Responsibilities:
  • Ensure that all machinery on board is well-maintained by the crew and that Preventive Maintenance Schedules are strictly adhered to.
  • Maintain up-to-date vessel certification documents.
  • Monitor and control operating costs within established budgetary parameters.
  • Attend vessels during surveys as required.
  • Analyze vessel performance data uploaded by the vessel on a regular basis.
  • Maintain a zero-incident record for the vessel.
  • Procure essential supplies, spare parts, and services in a timely manner.
  • Minimize or eliminate observations from third-party inspections.
  • Balance operational safety with cost-effectiveness without compromising safe operation.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for ships and shipowners to provide technical guidance and advice.
  • Oversee all technical management activities for assigned vessels.
  • Coordinate with the surveys and certifications team to ensure compliance with class and certification regulatory requirements.
  • Supervise contractors responsible for repairing and maintaining vessels.
  • Develop and implement long-term maintenance plans, ensuring adherence to company standards for maintenance planning, execution, and control.
  • Plan and monitor vessel dry docking, repairs, and surveys as required, determining repair specifications for dry docking and maintenance.
  • Compile and submit documented reports upon completion of dry docking, including summaries of works performed, operational budgets, and actual expenditures.
  • Communicate regularly with vessel owners regarding vessel performance, maintenance, and costing.
  • Maintain open communication channels with the Chief Engineer to ensure smooth vessel operations.
  • Provide detailed analysis and recommendations based on fuel and lube oil analysis reports received from laboratories.
  • Monitor vessel performance trends, identifying and implementing timely corrective actions where necessary.
  • Investigate accidents and incidents, analyze risks, and develop mitigation strategies, implementing and monitoring the effectiveness of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Initiate and manage Modification of Condition (MOC) processes for critical tasks, vessel modifications, and new engineering installations after thorough risk assessments.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
