Project Manager for PIPA Compliance Initiative

We are seeking a skilled Project Manager to lead our Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) compliance initiative.

The selected candidate will be responsible for end-to-end planning, execution, and delivery of Clarien Bank's compliance program in alignment with Bermuda equivalent data protection regulations, modeled closely on the European Union's GDPR framework.

  1. Lead the implementation of the PIPA compliance framework across all business units within Clarien Bank.
  2. Conduct a comprehensive assessment of current data privacy policies, systems, and processes to identify gaps against PIPA requirements.
  3. Work with Legal, Risk, IT Security, Compliance, and Business Units to define and implement appropriate controls for data collection, storage, access, and sharing.
  4. Oversee the development of data mapping and inventory to identify all personal data processed by the organization.
  5. Establish governance structures, reporting mechanisms, and escalation paths to ensure compliance tracking and accountability.
  6. Manage vendor relationships and third-party assessments related to data processing and privacy.
  7. Design and facilitate training and awareness programs for staff on data protection principles and responsibilities under PIPA.
  8. Prepare project plans, status reports, risk registers, and ensure timely delivery within budget and scope.
  9. Serve as the primary liaison between internal stakeholders and regulatory bodies regarding PIPA-related matters.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Proven experience managing regulatory or compliance-driven projects, preferably in the financial services sector.
  • In-depth understanding of data privacy regulations (PIPA, GDPR, or similar).
  • Strong stakeholder management, communication, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to translate legal and regulatory requirements into actionable business processes.
  • Experience with change management and business process re-engineering is an advantage.
