We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Cobol Developer to join our team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing and implementing high-quality Mainframe Cobol applications that meet business requirements. This role requires a deep understanding of COBOL programming, JCL scripting, DB2 database management, VSAM file access and CICS transaction processing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cobol Programming:
    • Develop and maintain COBOL applications, ensuring efficient and reliable performance.
    • Create, test and debug COBOL code for batch and online processing.
    • Modify and update existing COBOL applications to improve efficiency or add new features.
  • JCL Scripting:
    • Create and maintain JCL scripts to manage batch jobs for data processing.
    • Optimize JCL for job scheduling, monitoring and error handling.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve JCL-related issues impacting batch processing.
  • DB2 Database Management:
    • Design and develop DB2 queries to interact with databases, ensuring optimal performance.
    • Integrate COBOL programs with DB2 for data retrieval, insertion and updating.
    • Maintain database integrity and handle SQL optimization for large-scale banking transactions.
  • VSAM File Access:
    • Work with VSAM files to store and retrieve data efficiently.
    • Ensure seamless interaction between COBOL programs and VSAM files.
    • Perform file management tasks such as creating, deleting and maintaining VSAM datasets.
  • CICS Transaction Processing:
    • Develop and maintain CICS-based applications, ensuring seamless communication between online programs and data resources.
    • Optimize transaction processing in a CICS environment, focusing on real-time banking applications.
    • Debug and resolve any issues related to CICS transactions, minimizing downtime.
