Key Role Summary
The successful candidate will take full ownership of a significant Ocean and Air product vertical in India, driving growth and expansion.
This is a build-and-scale mandate where you'll shape procurement strategy, pricing, carrier partnerships, and commercial operations from the ground up.
You'll have the resources, global backing, and direct CEO visibility to put your mark on the industry.
Responsibilities Include:
- Managing a sizeable Ocean/Air P&L and team across America who will develop and maintain relations with ocean carrier partners including global and regional partners
- Designing, building, and pricing our Ocean/Air marketplace coverage
- Leading a large diverse team of leaders of leaders
- Executing Global Carrier Strategy and Development on Regional Trade Carrier Strategy
- Procuring competitive market rates, designing products, and managing yield
- Responding to tenders and RFQs to secure regional and global customers through your team
- Managing a team of Market experts in Ocean/Air Freight
- Supporting sales and marketing organization with market information, sales leads, and joint sales visits
- Educating teams with trade-specific market knowledge and trade idiosyncrasies
- S Scaling ocean and air freight for the biggest region in the company
- Owning air growth in the INDIA USA by leading a team of regional Sales and Pricing team to drive business development throughout the region.
- Administering overall pricing strategy for all fixed and spot business, tracking metrics such as conversion and take rate.
- Designing scalable air freight solutions to support unique verticals and segments.
- Developing a US Export procurement strategy by negotiating contracts, fixed allocations, and potentially BSA's, monitoring utilization of capacity.
- Administering quality management with IN- US Export carriers driving on-time performance and milestone timeliness.
- Owning take rate by managing air freight cost and pricing inputs. You are empowered to drive yields by leveraging the right carriers, routings, and consolidation strategies.
- Being the executive-level POC for all Indian airline relationships.
- Providing commercial support to largest global accounts, acting as an executive sponsor
- Partnering with sales organization on global, strategic RFQ's by providing pricing strategy and commercial support.
Requirements
- 15+ years of prior Ocean Freight experience at a top freight forwarder or carrier or 15+ years of supply chain experience and a BA/BS Degree;
- Strategic vision and ground floor execution;
- Bias to Action, Process, Structure, and Data;
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills;
- An obsession with client happiness. You succeed when they succeed;
- Ability to travel locally, nationally, and internationally;
