Business Development Director Opportunity

Attractive role for a Business Development Director to spearhead growth in parametric insurance.

This position is ideal for a candidate with experience in building sales from the ground up, strong industry relationships, and deep knowledge of risk solutions.

  • Create and implement go-to-market strategies for parametric insurance verticals.
  • Built entire sales functions from scratch — prospecting to closure.
  • IDentify and convert new business opportunities, customer segments, and revenue streams.
  • Develop and manage robust sales pipelines and ensure consistent deal closures.
  • Foster partnerships with insurers, reinsurance firms, agri-input companies, NBFCs, cooperatives, and government agencies.
  • Generate, qualify, and nurture leads while tailoring sales strategies to product models.
  • Cross-functionally collaborate with product, actuarial, tech, and operations teams to deliver custom parametric insurance solutions.
  • Monitor market trends, weather, climate risk data, government policy shifts, and competitor offerings.
  • Represent company at industry forums, conferences, and exhibitions.
  • Build and mentor lean sales teams to scale operations.
  • Deliver performance reports, revenue forecasts, and business insights to senior leadership.

Key Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Insurance, Agriculture, Climate Science, or related field; MBA preferred.
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in business development, preferably in parametric or climate-risk insurance, reinsurance, or rural financial services.
  • Demonstrated experience in setting up and scaling sales functions from 0 to 100.
  • In-depth understanding of parametric insurance products, climate data, and risk triggers.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with strong execution skills and adaptability in dynamic environments.
  • Williness to travel extensively, especially to risk-prone or underserved regions.
