Job Overview

Burns McDonnell India is seeking an experienced Piping Design Specialist to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing piping systems, including process and utility systems, on various food beverage and consumer product projects.

About the Role

The Piping Design Specialist will work closely with interdisciplinary teams to produce project-specific documents, such as PIDs, piping plans, section views, and piping isometrics. They will also develop and update piping material specifications, valve specifications, insulation specifications, and piping MTOs as needed.

Key Responsibilities:
  • To determine and develop the layout of the overall plant facility, including detailed design using various design-related tools like Plant 3D and AutoCAD
  • Work within a 2D/3D model environment and assist designers to produce project-specific documents
  • Develop and update piping material specifications, valve specifications, insulation specification, piping MTO as needed
  • Reviewing design documents from equipment suppliers and vendor submittals from contractors
  • Analyzing technical documents such as specifications, calculations, drawings, etc
  • Maintain strong knowledge of piping material specifications and familiarity with national and international codes and standards (IS, ASME, API, BS, EN)
  • Review 3D models using various 3D review software platforms to ensure design integrity
  • Collaborate effectively in workshare environments with lead offices and other disciplines
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from a recognized institution
  • Minimum 2-5 years of working experience in industrial piping design
  • Hands-on experience on projects in the North America region and knowledge of Plant 3D will be a plus
