Senior Backend Developer Job Description

As a Senior Backend Developer, you will be responsible for driving backend architecture and development using Node.js to build scalable, high-performance services.

Key responsibilities include designing, building, and optimizing APIs, microservices, and integrations, as well as collaborating with front-end developers to define interfaces, data contracts, and integrate front-end and back-end systems.

You will work closely with the team to ensure code quality by writing tests, performing code reviews, following best practices, and documenting your work.

Apart from the core responsibilities, you will participate in architectural decisions, trade-offs, and mentor junior team members.

  • Owning and driving backend architecture and development using Node.js
  • Designing, building, and optimizing APIs, microservices, and integrations
  • Collaborating with front-end developers to define interfaces, data contracts, and integrate front-end and back-end
  • Working with MongoDB for data modeling, schema design, performance tuning
  • Handling deployment, infrastructure, and operations on AWS
  • Ensuring code quality by writing tests, performing code reviews, following best practices, and documenting work
  • Participating in architectural decisions, trade-offs, and mentoring junior team members

Must-have skills & qualifications:

Deep expertise in Node.js, Express, building and maintaining backend services in production

Strong experience with MongoDB: schema design, indexing, querying, scaling, performance optimization

Comfortable with front end using React (with Vite), understanding of how backend & frontend interact

Strong experience in AWS: setting up environments, deployment pipelines, monitoring, security

Experience with microservices, distributed systems, handling high traffic, fault tolerance
