Summary

The Director, Design Engineering, is responsible for planning, scoping, and executing complex projects to meet the highest quality standards. This role involves working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple teams, providing guidance and support to team members.
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance team skills and performance.
  • Contribute to the development of the company's vision and annual business plan.
  • Oversee project budgeting and participate in the annual operating plan (AOP).
  • Collaborate with senior engineering management to support engineering activities.
  • Communicate and support the company's short- and long-term goals, ensuring resources and technical capabilities meet customer needs.
  • Work with potential customers to define their needs and present technical proposals.
  • Manage software validation functions with a focus on quality and efficiency.
  • Provide direction to indirect areas supporting business.
  • Instill a focus on design excellence through flawless execution.

Requirements

  • 18+ years of engineering product and people management experience.
  • Experience in product lifecycle management best practices, specifically in software validation.
  • Strong technical skills and experience in one or more of the following technologies: external storage, enterprise compute systems, hyperscale compute systems, data center and enterprise switch, service provider router.
  • Strong market and customer insights in one or more of the following market segments: cloud, enterprise, campus, telco, AI, IoT, etc.
  • Strong technical networking background.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and team building leadership skills.
  • Expertise in creating high-performance teams that fulfill their purpose with a clear strategy and a culture of partnership.
  • Results-oriented project management skills: proficiency in effectively prioritizing, managing, and executing simultaneous projects to produce multiple outcomes at the same time.
  • Ability to effectively interact and communicate with executive management.
