About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Software Technical Lead to join our team at Magna. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for leading a team of functional discipline engineers while still performing technical tasks within the project and company mandated targets.

Your Responsibilities

As a Software Technical Lead, you will be responsible for:

  • Acting as primary management interface and escalation for all product system related issues.
  • Providing technical leadership in directing the efforts of the team in the development and production release of all relevant engineering deliverables in compliance with the product development process and customer expectations.
  • Working with managers and other team leads to improve development processes.
  • Ensuring engineering targets (quality, delivery timing, performance, engineering budget, etc.) for engineering deliverables are met.
  • Responsible for project planning (resources, timing).
  • Ensuring appropriate technical supplier relationships for all key suppliers.
  • Ensuring proper sign off on quality of event for all engineering deliverables.
  • Ensuring proper engineering quote response is provided for new projects and engineering changes. As necessary, supports customer technical reviews.
  • Directly managing the team in the implementation of objectives and overall activities and effort estimates.
  • Participates in continuous improvement efforts, researches, recommends and initiates implementation of enhancements to products, processes and programs.
  • Ensures all necessary engineering documentation and data is generated and maintained to ensure traceability and compliance to company procedures (e.g. Process - Work Instructions) and applicable standards (e.g. ISO/TS 16949, ISO/IEC TR 15504).

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • ADAS product experience desired, Knowledge of product development engineering practices in automotive field.
  • Involvement in all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Knowledge of embedded software development in C/C++ for 16 bit and 32 bit micro-controllers including application for micro-controllers such as Freescale, PPC, ARM core, TI DSP, Microchip and Renasas.
  • Competent in the core frameworks used and must have a strong knowledge of the problem domain that their systems are meant to provide solutions for.
  • Ambassador between software engineering teams and system architects, and product lines.
  • Experience with implementation of low level device driver software such as SPI, I2C, PWM for various microcontrollers.
  • Automotive domain with knowledge of AUTOSAR, ASPICE, Functional safety, MISRA.
  • Knowledge of AUTOSAR BSW, MCAL, SWC, RTE.
  • Knowledge of CAN, UDS diagnostics, bootloader, cyber security and Ethernet protocols.
  • Knowledge of Compilers (GCC, Tasking), debuggers (I System, Lauterbach), Build process.
  • Knowledge of either cantata, VectorCAST.
  • Knowledge of generating Software test cases from detailed design, Architecture and SRS.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering / Software Engineering / Electrical Engineering / Computer Science or equivalent (Master's preferred). 8+ years' relevant experience regarding the Responsibility / Activities (listed above) for automotive electronics serial development projects (mandatory).
