Job Title: Business Editor

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Business Editor to join our team. As a Business Editor, you will play a crucial role in refining and editing business articles and reports.

Your attention to detail and strong editorial skills will be key to your success in this role. You will work directly with the Editor to ensure the accuracy, clarity, and coherence of our content.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Write, edit, and proofread business articles and reports for accuracy, clarity, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and style adherence.
  • Use excellent editorial judgment and have a keen eye for detail.
  • Ability to write succinctly, objectively, and accurately under deadline pressure.
  • Handle multiple subject areas effectively and efficiently.
  • Translate Hindi stories into English.
  • Verify facts, dates, statistics, and other information to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Ensure all content follows the publication's style sheet, brand guidelines, and tonality.
  • Collaborate with editors and team members to improve quality and coherence.
  • Conduct research when necessary to fact-check and validate information.
  • Rewrite or restructure sentences, paragraphs, or sections for clarity, readability, and conciseness.
  • Ensure proper formatting, layout, and presentation, including headings, subheadings, bullet points, and lists.
  • Maintain a consistent editorial style and tone across multiple articles or sections.
  • Collaborate with designers for visual presentation.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, current events, and relevant topics.
  • Assist in developing and implementing editorial policies, guidelines, and standards.
  • Contribute to brainstorming sessions and pitch ideas for new content.
  • Prioritize workload to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Conduct final reviews to ensure all edits have been incorporated correctly.
Qualifications

To be successful as a Business Editor, you will need to possess the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's/PG/Master's degree in journalism, communications, English, or a related field.
  • Excellent command of the English language, including grammar, spelling, and punctuation skills.
  • Knowledge and ability to write/edit business copies.
  • Familiarity with digital publishing platforms and content management systems is an advantage.
