Job Opportunity: Teaching and Capacity Building Specialist

  • Role Overview:

As a teaching and capacity building specialist, you will be responsible for developing and implementing high-quality workshops and courses for teachers in STEM subjects. This includes designing program plans, preparing academic calendars, and coordinating with other subject teams.

The ideal candidate will have 3-6 years of relevant experience in capacity-building programs in Teacher Education, with a Master's degree in Mathematics, Physics, or Chemistry, and a Bachelor's degree in Education (B.Ed).

  • Responsibilities:

Teaching and Capacity Building:

- Develop detailed program frameworks, teaching plans, and workshop modules for effective implementation based on a background study of relevant national and international reference material.

- Create program materials for short-term and intensive courses, strengthening the Resource Centre and developing subject-specific resource materials.

- Regularly update developed resources based on conducted action research, primary or secondary research, or academic reading and writing.

Research and Development:

- Design and conduct training needs assessments, baseline, and end-line assessments to check the effectiveness of the program.

- Conceptualize, design, and conduct research/s on regular basis, exploring the latest methodologies, resources, and approaches in education and the expertise area.

- Produce academic writings in the subject domain.

School Visits and Direct Intervention in Schools:

- Observe classroom sessions at various schools to understand the impact of the programs.

- Provide on-site support to selected teachers in schools in the respective subject, engaging with a cohort of teachers for understanding factors required for effective change in teaching practices.

Documentation and Reporting:

- Document and report progress on allocated tasks.

- Prepare and submit training reports, classroom observation reports, events, and other reports.

Other Activities:

- Collaborate with teachers, team members, and other team members to perform assigned tasks effectively.

- Contribute to the development and publication of annual reports, newsletters, and other publications.

- Participate in staff development activities and workshops which are academically relevant for the subject team.

Qualifications:

Master's degree in Mathematics, Physics, or Chemistry, and a Bachelor's degree in Education (B.Ed).
