Job Title: Senior ETL Tester

Job Summary:

The Senior ETL Tester plays a crucial role in ensuring the quality and accuracy of data extracted, transformed, and loaded within the organization's data warehouse and systems. This position is essential for maintaining the integrity of data and enabling informed decision-making processes within the company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and execute ETL test strategies and test plans to ensure data completeness, accuracy, and integrity.
  • Participate in requirements analysis and collaborate with development teams to design, develop, and implement effective ETL testing solutions.
  • Perform data validation and reconciliation to ensure consistency, reliability, and compliance with business requirements.
  • Identify, analyze, and document data anomalies, errors, and issues in ETL processes and provide recommendations for resolution.
  • Conduct root cause analysis of ETL defects and work with cross-functional teams to implement corrective actions.
  • Develop and execute automated ETL test scripts in alignment with testing best practices and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with business intelligence teams to understand data models and provide expertise on testing methodologies for complex data transformations.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of ETL testing processes, tools, and techniques to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive ETL test documentation, such as test cases, test plans, and test summary reports.
  • Participate in ETL performance tuning initiatives by analyzing and optimizing data transformation and loading processes.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior ETL testers and actively participate in knowledge sharing within the testing community.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into efficient and effective ETL test scenarios.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies related to ETL testing and data quality assurance.
  • Conduct ad-hoc data analysis and investigations to support data quality initiatives and root cause identification.
  • Participate in ETL release management activities, including deployment verification and validation.
  • Required qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; Master's degree is a plus.
    • Proven experience in ETL testing, data warehousing, and data integration processes within a large-scale enterprise environment.
    • Indepth knowledge of SQL and experience in writing complex queries for data validation and verification.
    • Hands-on experience with ETL tools, such as Informatica, Talend, or IBM DataStage.
    • Proficiency in test automation frameworks and tools for ETL testing, such as Selenium or UFT.
    • Strong understanding of data quality concepts, data profiling, and data cleansing techniques.
    • Experience in performance tuning and optimization of ETL processes and database queries.
    • Ability to interpret data models, schemas, and data mapping documents for ETL testing purposes.
    • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail to identify data anomalies and discrepancies.
    • Good understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC) and agile methodologies.
    • Solid communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
    • Certifications in ETL testing, data quality, or related areas are a definite plus.
    • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
    • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to proactively address potential ETL testing challenges.
    • Experience in healthcare, finance, or other regulated industries is an advantage.
