About the Role

We are looking for a talented Senior Monitoring Engineer to develop and improve core LogicMonitor monitoring modules. As a successful candidate, you will create and refine monitoring that gathers actionable metrics, present these metrics in a logical and consistent way, and alert according to best-practices.

You will work closely with the Manager of Monitoring Engineering, Product, Support, Professional Services, and customers to deliver technically apt solutions. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Creating new LogicModules based on company strategic priorities and customer needs
  • Maintaining existing LogicModules based on strategic priorities and customer feedback
  • Developing a deep understanding of LogicMonitor technologies to devise custom monitoring strategies
  • Collaborating with Customer Success, Professional Services, Product, and Engineering groups to deliver solutions
  • Providing exceptional service to customers during development, including removal of test modules and clearly communicating work progress
  • Managing the LogicModule request process from start to completion using our ticketing system
  • Making improvements to our lab infrastructure as needed
  • Educating colleagues and customers through documentation creation
  • Assisting Monitoring Engineers and Associate Monitoring Engineers with advanced topics
  • Maintaining and developing internal tooling related to module development

What You'll Need

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • 5+ years of experience scripting in modern high-level languages (Java, Python, C++, Groovy) with Groovy preferred
  • Strong familiarity with systems management protocols like SNMP, WMI etc.
  • Familiarity with standard security methods and mechanisms of authorization and authentication (AD, RADIUS, SNMPv3, REST API token authentication)
  • Understanding of IT operations infrastructure and how various roles are related (networks, servers, storage devices, databases, applications)
  • Passion for technical problem solving with IT systems and networks
  • Ability to do independent research on unfamiliar technologies and digest knowledge into monitoring strategy
  • Demonstrated ability in building and fixing modules
