Backend Engineering Professional

A transformative role awaits a highly skilled Backend Engineer to spearhead the development of a live, regulated financial platform in the Middle East. The frontend is advanced, and your mission will be to bridge the gap.

This is an urgent full-time contract opportunity focused on core features, transactions, and secure APIs that power a product for real customers under regulatory scrutiny.

You'll lead backend delivery in a TypeScript/AWS environment. Your expertise will be instrumental in crafting financial workflows like KYC, servicing, and withdrawals, building APIs and systems that handle real money with reliability and auditability.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Designing and implementing backend services using TypeScript/Node.js.
  • Developing transactional business logic for financial flows (e.g., onboarding, withdrawals).
  • Designing and maintaining PostgreSQL schemas, migrations, and queries.
  • Integrating with third-party APIs securely (OAuth2, JWT).
  • Enhancing existing systems for performance, reliability, and audit requirements.
  • Collaborating via GitHub and CI/CD workflows.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of backend engineering experience, preferably in financial services.
  • Strong TypeScript/Node.js skills, productive from day one.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS Lambda and serverless patterns.
  • PostgreSQL experience, schema design, performance tuning, real-world queries.
  • Solid understanding of building secure, documented REST APIs.
  • Able to work independently and communicate effectively.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with regulated systems (KYC, audit logs, compliance).
  • AWS Cognito and broader infrastructure exposure.
  • Terraform/IaC familiarity.
  • Understanding of polyglot environments as Kotlin may be introduced down the line.
