About the Role

Overview

WRI India is seeking an experienced professional to join our Energy Program as a Manager (Energy). The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting our research and implementation efforts to inform and guide India's clean energy transition.

  1. Review policy documents and government reports to understand the state of play on energy efficiency and policy implementation in Karnataka.
  2. Collect and analyze quantitative and qualitative data related to Karnataka's energy sector, including conducting advanced analysis to build a comprehensive picture of the state's supply and demand side sectors.
  3. Identify and engage with partners in the state, representing different sectors, and prioritize their needs based on discussions and meetings.
  4. Develop questionnaires, collect data, facilitate interviews and focused group discussions for qualitative and quantitative assessments.
  5. Support the Senior Manager, conduct regular meetings with partner groups to build dialogue around energy efficiency, cooling, clean energy, and other relevant topics.
  6. Deliver training to partners on clean energy, energy efficiency, cooling, and other topics, including identifying topics, developing training materials, and resources.
  7. Collate information and knowledge about major policy reform processes, consultations, and measures on states' energy and development sector policies, and identify opportunities for the team to provide inputs.
  8. Ensure communication with department officials to provide updates on project progress and seek assistance in data collection and other related project activities.
  9. Represent WRI or the state department to present project work and analysis at multiple forums as directed by the project manager.
  10. Under the guidance of the project manager, help track deliverables, coordination with funders, monitoring and evaluation activities, and daily task management.
  11. Contribute to communications and engagement activities of the program, including writing content for social media, print, and other types of media.
  12. Participate in research activities to produce policy/issue briefs, and other publications and reports as determined by program leadership.
  13. Support the team in conducting policy research of existing and emerging programs, policies, and regulatory areas related to energy and electricity.
  14. Perform other tasks as assigned by the program leadership and colleagues, including support on research for other energy program projects.
  15. Travel to the main project sites based on project needs.
Requirements

Qualifications

  • Graduate or postgraduate degree in science, engineering, architecture, policy, or related fields.
  • 4-7 years of relevant experience in energy efficiency or clean energy.
  • Interest and knowledge of energy efficiency policies and programs at the subnational and national levels in India.
  • Knowledge and interest in national and international policy discourse around sustainable cooling, energy-related climate actions, and energy efficiency.
  • Experience working in Karnataka, particularly with state government agencies, CSOs, academia, and the private sector.
  • Prior experience in providing technical support to state departments through a project management unit is an asset.
  • Technical and some training in research methods are necessary.
  • Experience conducting cost-benefit analysis.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively in conversation and writing, including professional-quality writing for research and communications products.
  • Willingness to travel on short notice when needed by the project.
  • The ability to respond to urgent requests from the team is an asset.
  • Fluency in English and Kannada. Proficiency in other languages is desirable.
Benefits

Salary and Benefits

INR 1100000 to INR 1300000 CTC Per Annum. Salary shall be commensurate with experience and skills. WRI offers a generous and comprehensive benefits package.
