We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Colo Regional Engineer to join our team at Amazon. As an integral part of our data center operations, you will be responsible for providing full life-cycle support to our data centers from design inception through site improvement and maintenance.
Your expertise will be utilized to identify, document, and resolve operational design deficiencies that may impact site capability or availability. You will work closely with internal business teams and colocation vendors to ensure that our data centers meet the highest standards of quality and reliability.
About the Role:
As a Mechanical Colo Regional Engineer, you will have the opportunity to lead projects to fit out our data centers to meet ever-evolving customer needs. You will be responsible for working with colo vendors to review designs for new data centers, including design input, submittal review, and incorporating AWS products to ensure the design meets AWS expectations.
You will also act as a resident engineer during new colo construction projects, supporting construction, commissioning, and handover. Additionally, you will troubleshoot and conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and create Corrective Action (CA) documentation for site equipment failures.
Other responsibilities include directly supporting operational issues with ad-hoc training, complex operating procedure reviews, and event support. You will provide technical support to the design for existing data center upgrades and design-solutions, which add capacity, improve availability, and increase efficiency.
You will interface with operating partners, data center design engineering team, server hardware team, environmental health and safety team to promote standards that maintain consistency and reliability in services delivered by operating partners.
In addition, you will initiate and lead engineering site audits within leased or colo data centers, producing reports outlining risks with recommended mitigations and remediation.

Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you should possess a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience. You should have 6 cumulative years of experience with industrial or commercial engineering in Mission Critical facilities, including but not limited to, data centers, power generation, oil and gas facilities.
Additionally, you should have the ability to communicate fluently in English and possess leadership and problem-solving skills. Experience using a variety of web-based and other software tools for calculation and data processing is preferred.
Direct experience with the design, construction, operation, or maintenance of mission-critical facilities, especially data centers, is also preferred. Knowledge of building codes and regulations for your region is essential.
