Job Opportunity: Firmware Test Engineer

Firmware test engineers play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and reliability of firmware-based systems. They are responsible for testing and validating firmware updates to guarantee they meet the required standards.

Responsibilities:
  • Technical Expertise:
    • Embedded Systems Knowledge:
    • Understanding microcontrollers, sensors, and hardware interfaces like SPI, I2C, UART is essential.
    • Programming Languages:
    • C or C++ programming skills are necessary for firmware development.
    • RTOS & Embedded Linux:
    • Experience with Real-Time Operating Systems and Linux-based embedded platforms is highly desirable.
    • Debugging Tools:
    • Familiarity with JTAG, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and firmware debugging techniques is a must.
    • Version Control:
    • Proficiency in Git for managing codebases and collaborating with developers is expected.
    • Automation & Scripting:
    • Knowledge of Python or Bash scripting for automating regression and stress testing is advantageous.
    • Communication Protocols:
  • Analytical & QA-Specific Skills:
    • Test Planning & Execution:
    • Designing test cases, writing test plans, and executing manual and automated tests is critical.
    • Bug Tracking & Reporting:
    • Using tools like Jira or Bugzilla to log, track, and communicate issues is essential.
    • Root Cause Analysis:
    • Diagnosing failures and working with developers to isolate and fix issues is a key responsibility.
    • Regression Testing:
    • Ensuring new firmware updates do not break existing functionality is a top priority.
    • Soft Skills:
    • Effective communication and collaboration across hardware, software, and QA teams is vital for product quality.
