Job Title: Hydraulic Design Lead Specialist

About the Role:

A key position for a Hydraulic Design Lead Specialist with expertise in pipeline hydraulics, water supply schemes, and irrigation projects. The successful candidate will lead the design and planning of complex water distribution networks.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Determine water requirements for water supply schemes and irrigation pipe distribution network projects, ensuring efficient resource allocation and minimizing waste.
  2. Create zone and water user association block plans to facilitate effective water management and distribution.
  3. Prepare pipeline layouts for water supply schemes and pressurized/gravity pipe distribution networks, taking into account topographical and environmental factors.
  4. Design hydraulic systems using Water GEMS software, leveraging advanced modeling techniques to optimize system performance.
  5. Conduct investigations, surveys, and engineering calculations for water supply schemes and pressurized/gravity pipe distribution networks, providing detailed reports and recommendations.
  6. Develop working drawings and estimates, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless project execution.
  7. Elaborate item-wise bills of quantity and quantity estimations, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  8. Obtain design approvals from government departments and institutes, maintaining strong relationships and facilitating smooth project progression.
  9. Travel to sites and government departments for inspections and approvals, fostering collaboration and open communication.
  10. Compose comprehensive reports and present findings to stakeholders, highlighting key outcomes and recommendations.

Requirements:

To succeed in this role, you should possess:

  • Strong technical expertise in pipeline hydraulics, water supply schemes, and irrigation projects.
  • Excellent leadership and project management skills, with experience in leading cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency in Water GEMS software and other relevant tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to conduct investigations and provide recommendations.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with experience in composing reports and presenting findings.
