Job Description

Job Title: Technical Officer

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Officer to join our team at the World Health Organization (WHO). The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical support to our public health programs, with a focus on traditional medicine and global health.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct literature reviews and analyze available information to inform public health policy and programming.
  • Develop and share knowledge products, including reports and briefs, with various teams and stakeholders.
  • Support the organization of the WHO Traditional Medicine Global Summit and other related meetings.
  • Collaborate with WHO headquarters, regional and country offices, and partners to develop and implement global health policies and strategies.
  • Provide project management support to draft and evaluate requests for proposals, track project milestones, and keep colleagues and senior management updated.
  • Promote partner engagement and support teams with collaborative tools, skills, and platforms.
  • Apply broad, practical knowledge of development and implementation of public health policies and strategies.
  • Contribute to resource mobilization initiatives and engage with various partners and stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • First-level university degree in public health, health policy, law, international relations, or a related field.
  • At least five years of experience in public health, law, project management, information/knowledge management, or a related field.
  • Some demonstrated experience in health-related project management at the international level.

Skills:

  • Strong skills in literature reviews, writing, analysis, and knowledge management.
  • Good collaborative and teamwork skills, working across multidisciplinary and multicultural contexts.
  • Broad, practical knowledge of development and implementation of public health policies and strategies.
  • Ability to work independently to deliver quality and timely work products.
  • Capacity to contribute to resource mobilization initiatives.
  • Ability to engage and communicate effectively and diplomatically with various partners and stakeholders.
