Cloud Administrator Job Description

The Cloud Administrator is a key member of the Data Centers Cloud Services team, responsible for designing and producing core infrastructure systems for private and public cloud environments. This role involves executing unique projects within a technical team, ensuring reliability, integrity, availability, and growth of Expeditors Cloud environments. The Cloud Administrator will engage with business analysts, system architects, other systems administrators, software developers, DBAs, and quality assurance resources to deliver a robust Cloud-based environment that supports business objectives.

Main Responsibilities

  • Infrastructure Design and Deployment: Design, deploy, and manage secure, scalable Azure cloud infrastructure to meet business needs.
  • System Performance and Troubleshooting: Monitor system performance, troubleshoot cloud issues using Azure tools, and implement security best practices, identity management, and network security.
  • Automation and Optimization: Automate deployments and configurations using PowerShell and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, manage cloud resources, and optimize costs.
  • Backup and Disaster Recovery: Implement and maintain backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity plans to ensure minimal downtime.
  • DevOps and CI/CD: Collaborate with development teams to support DevOps and CI/CD pipelines, providing technical support and resolving cloud-related issues.
  • Documentation and Training: Maintain documentation of cloud configurations and procedures, and stay current with new Azure services and best practices.

Requirements

  • Communication and Problem-Solving: Strong communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Azure Expertise: Proficiency in Azure services, including knowledge of Windows and Linux OS in cloud environments.
  • PowerShell and Scripting: PowerShell scripting expertise and experience with on-premises virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V, Azure Stack).
  • Agile Development: Experience working in an Agile development or DevOps environment, with a strong grasp of disaster recovery, business continuity, and backup strategies in Azure.
