Women's Health Specialist Job Description

Giving expert care to patients and running a smooth gynecology department is key for this role. Here are some main responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities:
  • Start the day by completing patient discharge and operating theater procedures.
  • Set up outpatient department services.
  • Conduct consultations and counseling sessions with OPD patients to address their concerns and provide necessary guidance.
  • Perform IUI, sonography, and other related procedures as needed.
  • Issue prescriptions and requisition medications when required.
  • Collaborate with assistant doctors and sisters to take rounds in the morning and evening, ensuring patient files are complete and daily orders are checked.
  • Verify parameters and investigations conducted on patients.
  • Examine monitoring charts and check IPD and OT consents for newly admitted patients.
  • Advise patients on necessary investigations and inform them accordingly.
  • Address patient complaints and take corrective actions when needed.
  • Participate in operative procedures such as oocyte pick-up (OPU), embryo transfer (ET), and hysteroscopy (HLScopy).
  • Ensure timely commencement and completion of scheduled operative procedures.
  • Verify pre-operative preparation by OT sisters according to the pre-op checklist.
  • Assist or conduct OT procedures as required.
  • Enter anaesthesia notes and document OT activities.
  • Provide post-operative orders to assistant doctors.
  • Conduct post-operative rounds immediately after patient transfer and ensure IPD sisters follow post-op orders.
  • Offer post-operative counseling to patient relatives.
  • Verify software entries recording post-op findings by sisters and assistant doctors.
  • Determine patient discharge and request RMO to prepare discharge papers.
  • Confirm that IPD documentation is complete and hand over files to HR.
  • Respond to emergencies and complications, seeking senior gynecologists' assistance when necessary.
  • Participate in camps and outreach OPDs.
  • Maintain control and monitor all clinical staff.
