The Job Description

As a key member of our team, you will assist the Lead/Director of Data Governance and Compliance in effectively planning, implementing, and managing data governance tools, retention, and protection programs.

Responsibilities include:

  • Defining, developing, and implementing data governance policies and procedures
  • Supporting the creation of an enterprise-wide data governance framework, focusing on sensitive data protection through organizational behavior policy modifications, standards, principles, governance metrics, processes, and data architecture
  • Rolling out an enterprise data governance implementation roadmap with strategic priorities
  • Building policies and fine-tuning rules within the data governance application for accurate results
  • Assisting in the implementation and deployment of the tool, closely collaborating with Cyber and Infrastructure teams
  • Ensuring all platforms are covered in discovery scanning, and all data is scanned, identified, and correctly labeled
  • Developing a process to ensure new files created are scanned and appropriately labeled
  • Working on other security tools to identify tags and build DLP controls on defined critical tags
  • Creating a repeatable scanning process across all locations with a remediation mindset
  • Maintaining electronic dashboards and metrics
  • Actively participating in setting up DLP on emails, Cloud upload, On-premise storage, Cloud storage, and External storage devices (USB, External HDD)
  • Building a strategy for DLP monitoring abnormal data activities
  • Developing a retention strategy
  • Collaborating with compliance stakeholders to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, including GDPR, NYDFS, and CCPA

    Requirements

    To be successful in this role, you will need:

    • 3+ years of experience working in data governance and protection, along with experience with governance, risk, and compliance tools
    • Experience working with cybersecurity frameworks and standards, preferably CIS Critical Controls and PCI-DSS
    • Knowledge of security laws and regulations, such as NY DFS cyber laws, GDPR, CCPA, and other state data security and privacy regulations
    • Experience monitoring and reporting on controls for hybrid on-premise and cloud environments
    • Strong knowledge of Excel, including PowerQuery, V-lookup, and Pivot tables
    • Data governance certification from a reputable organization is a plus

    Estimated Salary: $90,000 - $120,000 per annum
