Animal Welfare Investigator

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Animal Welfare Investigator to join our team. As an Animal Welfare Investigator, you will be responsible for conducting field investigations into animal cruelty cases, using research and investigative methods.

The primary objectives of this role include:

  • Conducting short- and long-term investigations from beginning to end, including covert operations.
  • Undertaking desk research on animal protection laws and creating comprehensive checklists.
  • Traveling to and staying on location for various assignments as necessary.
  • Visiting industries that use animals and obtaining relevant documentation.
  • Developing and working with trusted contacts during investigations and maintaining confidentiality.
  • Documenting conditions and use of animals through photography and videography.
  • Submitting detailed daily log notes and following department standard operating procedures.
  • Assessing evidence with in-house counsel and preparing reports of findings.
  • Preparing investigation findings for public release and cooperating in police and court proceedings.

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Investigative journalism or relevant experience preferred.
  • Basic veterinary knowledge or experience a plus.
  • Fluency in English and Hindi required.
  • Ability to handle stress and trauma of witnessing animal abuse.
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to work independently.
  • Commitment to the objectives of the organisation.
