Digital Media Solutions works with scientists, universities, organizations, societies, and publishers across more than 150 accounts worldwide. Our content writing and design services convert complex scientific ideas into engaging visuals tailored to diverse audiences.
You will combine scientific expertise with creative design skills to produce accurate and visually impactful materials as a Scientific Graphic Designer. Your work includes scientific illustrations, graphical abstracts, journal cover images, infographics, posters, brochures, and more.
Your primary responsibilities include:
- Developing visually engaging graphical abstracts representing the essence of a scientific study.
- Reading and comprehending scientific manuscripts to extract key visual elements and concepts.
- Creating storyboards outlining the visual narrative while aligning with scientific content and client objectives.
- Generating rough sketches illustrating initial visual concepts, collaborating closely with researchers, writers, and clients to refine and finalize visual representations.
- Reviewing peers' and freelancers' outputs to ensure they meet client expectations and are delivery-ready.
The ideal candidate should have:
- A Graduate/PhD degree in STEM fields (especially Biology/Biotechnology/Medicine/Chemistry/Physics/Engineering).
- 3-5 years of experience in scientific graphic designing, communicating science and complex research into visually engaging output.
- Advanced skills in Adobe Design Suite (Illustrator and Photoshop).
- Creating 3D designs in Blender is an added advantage.
- Experience in scientific graphic designing, medical illustrations, journal cover designs, and graphical abstract.
- An understanding of the scientific publishing & science communication landscape.
