Quality Assurance Specialist Job Description

We are seeking a seasoned Quality Assurance Specialist to ensure the highest quality of our products. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to design and implement effective test strategies.

The ideal candidate will have experience in building scalable automation frameworks, mentoring junior team members, and performing manual and automated testing to ensure product quality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain robust automation frameworks using Selenium WebDriver and BDD (Cucumber/Gherkin).
  • Perform both manual and automated testing to ensure product quality across web, API, and integration layers.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand requirements, define acceptance criteria, and ensure test coverage.
  • Implement and maintain Page Object Model (POM) for scalable and maintainable automation.
  • Build and extend core framework utilities such as wrappers, waits, retry mechanisms, and driver handling.
  • Ensure clean code practices in test automation frameworks (SOLID principles, OOP concepts).

Required Skills & Expertise:

Core QA Automation Skills:

  • Selenium WebDriver (Advanced): Knowledge of WebDriver APIs, custom waits, element handling, handling synchronization issues, stale elements, and workarounds.

BDD (Cucumber/Gherkin):

  • Writing business-readable feature files.
  • Mapping steps correctly to ensure reusability and modularity.

Java (or framework language):

  • Strong OOP concepts (inheritance, abstraction, polymorphism).
  • Clean code practices with SOLID principles.
  • Exception handling and custom exception creation.

Framework & Layer-Specific Skills:

  • Step Definitions: Designing high-level steps without mixing UI locator logic, ensuring modularity and reusability, and writing maintainable locators and encapsulating UI interactions.
  • Page Object Model (POM): Strong understanding of POM & Page Factory, writing maintainable locators and encapsulating UI interactions, and handling dynamic elements and reusable components.
  • Core Framework (Wrappers, Waiters, Driver handling): Building wrapper methods around Selenium APIs, implementing custom waits, retry mechanisms, and driver utilities, and extending WebDriver with custom elements where needed.

Additional Skills:

  • Hands-on experience with manual testing (functional, regression, smoke, UAT).
  • Experience in API testing using Postman/RestAssured.
  • Strong understanding of test planning, test design, and defect management.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and integration with tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or GitLab.
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in QA, with at least 2+ years in automation testing.
