Enterprise Kafka Migration Specialist

As a seasoned Kafka specialist, you will spearhead the design of automated migration pipelines to seamlessly transition enterprise Kafka workloads to open-source or cloud-native clusters. Your expertise in crafting scalable and efficient processes will ensure minimal downtime and guarantee data integrity.

Main Responsibilities:
  • You will script and provision migration steps, automate validation, rollback, and monitoring tasks to optimize Kafka workflows.
  • Your role will involve developing and integrating custom plugins for Kafka Connect as part of migration workflows.
  • You will build scalable CI/CD processes for Kafka resource provisioning and configuration rollouts to streamline operations.
  • Your responsibility will be to ensure automated tests cover data integrity, performance, and integration interfaces post-migration.
  • You will integrate with cloud orchestration (AWS MSK, Kubernetes operators), manage infrastructure-as-code, and oversee the automation of rollback/validation steps for migrations.
Requirements:
  • You must have expertise in CI/CD (Jenkins, GitHub Actions), IaC (Terraform, CloudFormation).
  • A strong understanding of Apache Kafka administration and migration is essential.
  • You should possess proficiency in scripting languages (Python, Go, Bash).
  • Familiarity with Kafka Connect custom plugin API, Maven/Gradle, and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) is required.
  • You should have knowledge of monitoring/validation tools (Prometheus, Grafana).
  • Experience with automation of rollback/validation steps for migrations is necessary.
  • Africa panning exposure to cloud services (AWS, GCP, Azure) is an advantage.
  • Data ops and security automation skills are highly desirable.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience working with Kafka and cloud-based systems, as well as a deep understanding of scripting languages and infrastructure-as-code tools.
