Job Summary

Wabtec Corporation is a leading global provider of equipment, systems, digital solutions, and value-added services for freight and transit rail. As a Brake System Project Engineering Manager, you will lead a team of engineers in India and other sites, ensuring the successful delivery of brake system projects. Your expertise in brake systems and control, as well as your experience in leading teams, will be essential in driving project success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure correct handover of brake system contractual technical specifications from the tendering team.
  • Ensure that all technical requirements and demands by the customer are fulfilled deliverables in the scope of engineering.
  • Identify and cover technical risks throughout the project.
  • Manage and report non-recurring costs pertaining to engineering deliverables.
  • Be the single point of contact to the customer for engineering for specific projects on brake systems.
  • Prepare and discuss technical proposals with the customer in line with the division strategy.
  • Manage the engineering project plan, focusing on implementation, integration, verification, and homologation.
  • Approve changes to engineering budget, schedule, requirements, and deliverables.
  • Ensure system and product design reviews at specific project gates.
  • Manage customer gate reviews, ensuring proper preparation by the project team and a positive achievement of the milestone.
  • Ensure verification and validation are properly planned, performed, and documented.
  • Ensure that the delivered product performs as requested to fulfill the customer contract, internal Faiveley requirements, and safety requirements.
  • Manage the brake system commissioning, ensuring respect and management of all homologation and certification requirements.
  • Support customer technical queries and product issues until the end of the warranty phase.

Requirements

  • Minimum 6-8 years of relevant experience in brake systems and control, from automotive/rolling stock/brake system manufacturer.
  • Knowledge of standards, application, and customer requirements on automotive or rolling stock for braking systems.
  • Knowledge of brake control electronics and software is an advantage.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience leading a team in projects.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • High customer focus.
  • Mindset to work in a global environment with interaction with counterparts across other sites in Europe.

Competences

  • Relevant experience on braking systems in the railway/automotive industry: 3-4.
  • Communication skills: 4-5.
  • Experience of leading people in project organizations with people in different sites in a global environment: 3-4.

English - fully proficient.
