We are seeking a highly skilled Senior SQL Server Database Administrator to lead our Azure cloud initiative. This is a challenging opportunity for an experienced professional to take ownership of managing, securing, and optimizing SQL Server environments in the Azure cloud.

This role involves planning, implementing, and overseeing Azure SQL Subscription services to ensure high availability and cost efficiency. You will perform database performance tuning, query optimization, indexing, and monitoring to guarantee optimal system performance.

Additionally, you will be responsible for configuring and maintaining disaster recovery, backups, and high availability solutions using Always On, Geo-Replication, etc. Your expertise in security policies, access controls, and compliance standards will be instrumental in protecting our data assets.

You will work closely with development and DevOps teams to support CI/CD and database lifecycle management. Monitoring and troubleshooting production issues and proactively addressing database health and capacity concerns will be key responsibilities.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to develop and maintain documentation, runbooks, and best practices that will benefit our entire organization.

Key qualifications include:

  • Minimum 10 years of experience as a SQL Server DBA.
  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience with Azure SQL Server and Azure SQL Subscription management.
  • Strong experience in performance tuning and troubleshooting database issues.
  • Deep knowledge of T-SQL, backup/recovery, replication, indexing, and security configurations.
  • Proven experience with migration projects from on-premises SQL Server to Azure.
  • Familiarity with Azure services like Azure Monitor, Azure Security Center, and Azure Automation.
  • Understanding of licensing and cost management for Azure SQL resources.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate or equivalent certification.
  • Experience with PowerShell scripting for automation.
  • Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code tools and CI/CD pipelines related to database deployments.
  • Experience working in Agile and DevOps environments.
