Design Engineer - Android

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Design Engineer to join our team focused on building high-quality, well-designed mobile user interfaces for Android applications. As a Design Engineer, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams of engineers and designers to solve design and engineering problems at scale.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Participate in key planning activities, such as feature discovery, system architecture, requirements definition, project scope, and delivery.
  • Collaborate with the design team to ensure that Spectrum's visual aesthetic and user experience are built into our Android component libraries.
  • Lead architectural discussions and help build technical alignment both on the team and across product team boundaries.
  • Understand and derive data from designs, map data to clear abstractions, and integrate that design data.
  • Partner with internal product teams to define, build, support, and validate implementations of Spectrum in Adobe products.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you must have:

  • A specialist understanding of building performant and complex UI components in the Android ecosystem, ideally having direct experience with the Android Studio, Kotlin, and Java.
  • Precision and meticulous attention to detail when building user interface components.
  • Experience building and supporting frameworks or SDKs used by other developers.
  • Solid understanding of UI accessibility practices, standards, and testing methods.
  • A strong ability to convert design concepts into code.
  • A collaborative outlook, comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, and open-minded approach to development.
