About the Position
Retail Business Services (RBS) is a key component of Amazon's Retail business growth worldwide. We are looking for an experienced Application Engineer with a diverse skillset and background to join our team. As an Application Engineer, you will be responsible for leading large multi-team projects, resolving complex support issues, and driving the team to improve operational efficiency. You will work closely with management to assign tasks and small projects to other Support Engineers. You will also design and develop complex high-performing scripts and applications. On-call support is a critical responsibility where you will work on issues related to alarm monitoring, application infrastructure, and bug fixes.

Key Responsibilities
* Lead large multi-team projects and resolve complex support issues.
* Drive the team to improve operational efficiency.
* Work with management to assign tasks and small projects to other Support Engineers.
* Design and develop complex high-performing scripts and applications.
* Play a significant role in hiring, mentoring, and training employees.

Requirements
  • 5+ years of software development or technical support experience.
  • Own support activities for services and regularly work with development teams to establish and improve service support.
  • In-depth understanding of software development principles, design patterns, and best practices.
  • Ability to understand/debug existing code and write clean and efficient code.
  • Good understanding of relational database management systems like MySQL, PostgreSQL using SQL.
  • Familiarity with software testing principles and experience in testing.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentor junior engineers.
  • Analyze complex technical solutions, propose innovative solutions, and guide the resolution process.
  • Effectively communicate with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and clients.
  • Handle high-impact incidents, perform pattern root cause analysis, and drive to logical closure.
  • Excellent communication skills, possessing the ability to support customers over email, phone, or screen-shares.
  • Strong team-oriented interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively interface with a wide variety of people and roles from junior engineers to senior leaders.
