About the Role

The Data Engineer role is a critical position that plays a key part in our organization's data-driven decision-making process.

This role involves designing, developing, and maintaining large-scale data processing systems that can handle massive amounts of data from various sources.

Data Engineers are responsible for ensuring the smooth flow of data across different platforms, which requires expertise in various technologies and tools.

Some of the key responsibilities of this role include building and maintaining data pipelines, ensuring data quality, and optimizing system performance.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with big data technologies such as AWS, Python, and PySpark, as well as experience with version control tools like Git.

The role also involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure that data requirements are met and aligned with business objectives.

Additionally, the Data Engineer will work on optimizing Spark jobs that process huge volumes of data, build PySpark applications using Spark Dataframes in Python, and work on Amazon's Analytics services like Amazon EMR, Amazon Athena, and AWS Glue.

Good knowledge of data warehousing concepts, columnar storage formats, and compression techniques is also desirable.

The successful candidate will be able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team to deliver high-quality results.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • Hands-on experience with big data technologies such as AWS, Python, and PySpark
  • Experience with version control tools like Git
  • Good knowledge of data warehousing concepts
  • Knowledge of columnar storage formats and compression techniques
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team

Familiarity with Amazon's Analytics services, data warehousing concepts, and columnar storage formats is highly desirable.
