Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Database Administrator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, configuration, and administration of DMSII databases. They will also monitor database performance, space utilization, and availability on Unisys mainframes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Installation, configuration, and administration of DMSII databases.
  • Monitoring database performance, space utilization, and availability on Unisys mainframes.
  • Managing sets, subsets, and indexes to ensure efficient data access.
  • Handling database backups, journals, and roll-forward recovery procedures.
  • Supporting schema changes and performing database reorganizations as required.
  • Assisting in capacity planning and ensuring data integrity across environments.
  • Working closely with application and system teams to troubleshoot performance or access issues.
  • Participating in disaster recovery testing and ensuring compliance with backup policies.
  • Implementing and maintaining security, audit trails, and user access controls.
  • Documenting DBA processes, configuration, and recovery procedures.
Required Skills and Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess strong hands-on experience with Unisys DMSII database administration. They will also have knowledge of DMUTILITY, DMSUPPORT, and database reorganization tools. Understanding of journaling, quiet point backups, and roll-forward recovery is essential. Experience in performance tuning and troubleshooting database issues is also desirable. Familiarity with COBOL, ALGOL, or other Unisys mainframe application integration is beneficial. Knowledge of batch jobs, JCL equivalents, and operational support tasks is necessary. Basic experience in ODBC/JDBC integration with DMSII is a plus.

Candidates should hold a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. A minimum of 3–5 years of proven experience as a DMSII DBA or Unisys Mainframe DBA is required. Good communication and problem-solving skills are essential. Willingness to work in rotational support shifts is a requirement.

  • Exposure to modernization projects (migrating from DMSII to RDBMS/cloud).
  • Knowledge of SQL/relational databases for cross-skill flexibility.
  • Experience in automation scripts for monitoring or DBA tasks.
