Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Big Data Engineering leader to join our team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining large-scale big data systems. This includes leading the data platform and pipeline along with risk evaluation, providing technical leadership on data platform design, rollout, and evolution, liaising with product teams, professional services, and sales engineers on solution reviews and trade-offs, driving technology explorations and roadmaps, and serving as a technical lead on cross-functional departments.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the development of data platforms and pipelines using big data technologies such as Spark, Kafka, and Presto
  • Providing technical guidance and mentorship to engineering resources
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize technical requirements and deliver solutions that meet business needs
  • Developing and maintaining technical documentation and standards for big data engineering practices
  • Participating in code reviews and ensuring high-quality architecture and design
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent
  • At least 8 years of total experience in software development and engineering
  • 4+ years of relevant experience in design and architecture of big data solutions using Spark
  • 3+ years of experience working with engineering resources for innovation
  • Strong expertise in big data technologies, including Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, and Presto
  • Hands-on experience with scripting and automation tools such as Python, Shell, and Makefiles
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and projects
