Job Title

A seasoned professional is sought after to lead the modernization of legacy systems and design databases for future applications.

The ideal candidate will have experience in leading projects to implement secure, scalable, and highly available database solutions, managing database performance, and collaborating with development and infrastructure teams.

  • Design and implement secure, scalable, and highly available database solutions using SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL.
  • Monitor and optimize database performance through indexing, query tuning, and storage management.
  • Lead database capacity planning, disaster recovery strategy, and backup/restore processes.
  • Implement and enforce database security controls including encryption, access controls, and auditing.
  • Collaborate with development, DevOps, and infrastructure teams to support software releases and schema changes.
  • Automate routine database operations using scripting and infrastructure-as-code tools.
  • Manage and troubleshoot replication, clustering, and failover configurations.
  • Maintain documentation, procedures, and standards for database systems.
  • Evaluate new database technologies and make recommendations for adoption.
Requirements

Applicants should hold a degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field. A minimum of 7 years of hands-on experience in database administration, design, and performance tuning is required.

  • Expertise in SQL Server, with working knowledge of other RDBMS (PostgreSQL, Oracle, MySQL).
  • Strong proficiency in T-SQL, stored procedures, and performance analysis tools.
  • Experience with HA/DR solutions (e.g., AlwaysOn Availability Groups, Log Shipping, Replication).
  • Solid understanding of database security, compliance (e.g., PII, PCI), and role-based access control.
  • Proficient in automation scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Python, or Bash).
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and integrating DB changes into DevOps workflows.
  • Experience in cloud-based database platforms (e.g., Azure SQL, AWS RDS) is a strong plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and in a team setting.
  • Experience with database monitoring tools (e.g., Redgate, SolarWinds) preferred.
  • Knowledge of NoSQL systems (e.g., Cosmos DB, MongoDB, Redis) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements in the financial services industry.
