The Garage Lab Manager role plays a key part in achieving this mission, requiring an individual with experience in managing makerspaces, innovation labs, or maker environments.

This involves hands-on technical expertise in 3D printing, laser cutting, CNC, electronics prototyping, and related tools, as well as the ability to coach and support employees on creative problem solving, prototyping, and rapid iteration.

A successful Garage Lab Manager will also possess strong client-facing skills, able to engage with senior stakeholders and diverse employee groups, while ensuring safety and compliance standards are met in lab environments.

Maintaining a collaborative culture, the ideal candidate will have proven leadership abilities, including cross-functional collaboration, team leadership, and fostering a culture of experimentation.

  • Makerspace / Lab Operations Management: Oversee daily operations of the makerspace or innovation lab.
  • Hands-on Technical Expertise: Possess hands-on experience with 3D printing, laser cutting, CNC, electronics prototyping, and related tools.
  • Innovation Program Facilitation: Design and facilitate innovation programs to foster creativity and experimentation.
  • Stakeholder Management: Engage with senior stakeholders and diverse employee groups to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Safety & Compliance Knowledge: Ensure safety and compliance standards are met in lab environments.
  • Project & Event Coordination: Coordinate projects and events to promote collaboration and innovation.
  • Collaboration & Leadership: Foster a culture of collaboration and experimentation, and lead teams to achieve shared goals.
