Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Database Administrator to join our team in a remote, long-term contract position. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in PostgreSQL, Cloud SQL (MySQL), and advanced SQL performance tuning.

The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining PostgreSQL and Cloud SQL (MySQL) databases. They will also perform advanced SQL performance tuning, query optimization, and schema design. Additionally, they will manage database upgrades, migrations, patching, and version control.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Install and configure PostgreSQL and Cloud SQL (MySQL) databases.
  • Perform advanced SQL performance tuning, query optimization, and schema design.
  • Manage database upgrades, migrations, patching, and version control.
  • Implement and monitor replication, clustering, and failover solutions for high availability.
  • Ensure database security, compliance, integrity, and backup/recovery strategies.
  • Collaborate with development teams to optimize SQL queries and improve database architecture.

Required Skills & Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and qualifications:

  • 5+ years of hands-on DBA experience with PostgreSQL.
  • Strong expertise with Cloud SQL (MySQL) and advanced SQL performance tuning.
  • Solid background in Oracle DBA (RAC, Data Guard, RMAN, performance tuning).
  • Proficiency in writing and optimizing complex SQL queries.
  • Strong knowledge of Linux/Unix operating systems for database administration.
  • Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).

Nice to Have

The following skills are desirable:

  • Experience migrating from SQL to PostgreSQL.
  • Knowledge of database monitoring tools and observability solutions.
