Financial Analyst Position Overview

The Financial Analyst role is a key component of our team, responsible for evaluating and analysing various investment products. This involves leading assessments of external fund managers, including on-site meetings with managers.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and analyse investment products to ensure alignment with business objectives.
  • Lead assessments of external fund managers, including on-site meetings to discuss their strategies and approaches.
  • Prepare due diligence reports that provide a comprehensive review of all relevant areas, including personnel, processes, systems, trade capture, valuation, counterparty risk, accounting and financial reporting, risk management, performance measurement etc.
  • Participate as an active member of the Investment Committee, presenting the merits and risks of investments brought to the committee by the Investment Team.
  • Maintain up-to-date information, risk ratings and other documentation in internal databases.
  • Conduct periodic and ad-hoc reviews of investment funds, benchmarking their performance against other funds in the same category.
  • Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of industry standards and best practices relating to fund manager selection and fund performance evaluation, making recommendations on how these can be integrated into current processes.

Requirements:

  • Hold an undergraduate or advanced degree such as MBA.
  • Possess CPA, CFA, CAIA or other relevant investment-related experience, which would be considered an asset.
  • Have a strong understanding of both public and private market investments, including fund design, performance attribution and tools for fund manager evaluation.
  • Be familiar with a wide range of financial instruments and possess a solid understanding of valuation methods.
