About the Role

In this role, you'll be responsible for providing technical direction and lead a group of one or more developers to address a goal. You'll design and implement cloud-based solutions that meet functional and non-functional requirements.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Architecture
  • You'll architect and design solutions to meet functional and non-functional requirements.
  • You'll create and review architecture and solution design artifacts.
  • You'll evangelize re-use through the implementation of shared assets.
  • Leadership
  • You'll enforce adherence to architectural standards/principles, global product-specific guidelines, usability design standards, etc.
  • You'll proactively guide engineering methodologies, standards, and leading practices.
  • Solution Design
  • You'll guide engineering staff and reviews of as-built configurations during the construction phase.
  • You'll provide insight and direction on roles and responsibilities required for solution operations.
  • Risk Management
  • You'll identify, communicate and mitigate Risks, Assumptions, Issues, and Decisions throughout the full lifecycle.
  • Cloud Expertise
  • You'll consider the art of the possible, compares various architectural options based on feasibility and impact, and proposes actionable plans.
  • Data Engineering
  • You'll grow the Data Engineering business by helping customers identify opportunities to deliver improved business outcomes.
  • You'll design and drive the implementation of those solutions.
  • Team Management
  • You'll grow & retain the Data Engineering team with appropriate skills and experience to deliver high quality services to our customers.
  • Learning and Development
  • You'll support and develop our people, including learning & development, certification & career development plans.
  • Technical Governance
  • You'll provide technical governance and oversight for solution design and implementation.

What We Offer

We offer a competitive salary of $150,000 - $200,000 per year, depending on experience, plus benefits including health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.

Requirements

  • Experience
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in designing and building Databricks-based solutions on any cloud platform.
  • 1+ year of hands-on experience in designing and building solutions powered by DBT models and integrating with Databricks.
  • Skills
  • Excellent technical architecture skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to rapidly gain knowledge of the organizational structure of the firm.
  • Certifications
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalency (CS, CE, CIS, IS, MIS, or engineering discipline) or equivalent work experience.
  • Software Skills
  • Strong hands-on experience in various cloud services like ADF/Lambda, ADLS/S3, Security, Monitoring, Governance.
  • Experience in setting up development best practices.
  • Language
  • Python and Spark programming skills.
  • Operating Systems
  • Docker and Kubernetes experience.
  • Cloud Platforms
  • Experience with Azure, AWS, GCP cloud platforms.
  • Security
  • Claims-based authentication (SAML/OAuth/OIDC), MFA, RBAC, SSO etc.
  • Knowledge of cloud security controls including tenant isolation, encryption at rest, encryption in transit, key management, vulnerability assessments, application firewalls, SIEM, etc.
  • Database
  • Extensive knowledge of database concepts and design patterns.
  • Agile Methodologies
  • Experience with Agile software development methodologies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Cloud Architecture
  • Designed the E2E architecture of unified data platform covering all the aspects of data lifecycle starting from Data Ingestion, Transformation, Serve and consumption.
  • Programming Languages
  • Excellent coding skills in Python or Scala, preferably Python.
  • Data Engineering
  • At least 10+ years of experience in Data Engineering domain with total of 12+ years.
  • Databricks
  • Designed and implemented at least 2-3 project end-to-end in Databricks.
  • Delta Lake
  • Hands-on experience with Delta Lake.
  • DBConnect
  • Hands-on experience with DBConnect.
  • DB API 2.0
  • Hands-on experience with DB API 2.0.
  • SQL Endpoint
  • Hands-on experience with SQL Endpoint.
  • Unity Catalog
  • Hands-on experience with Unity Catalog.
  • Databricks Workflows Orchestration
  • Hands-on experience with Databricks workflows orchestration.
  • Security Management
  • Hands-on experience with security management.
  • Platform Governance
  • Hands-on experience with platform governance.
  • Data Security
  • Hands-on experience with data security.
  • New Features
  • Familiarity with new features available in Databricks and its implications along with various possible use-cases.
  • Architectural Principles
  • Familiarity with various architectural principles to design best-suited per problem.
  • Lakehouse Concept
  • Well-versed with Databricks Lakehouse concept and its implementation in enterprise environments.
  • Data Warehousing
  • Strong understanding of data warehousing and various governance and security standards around Databricks.
  • Cluster Optimization
  • Knowledge of cluster optimization and its integration with various cloud services.
  • Data Pipeline
  • Good understanding to create complex data pipeline.
  • Spark and Hive
  • Strong performance optimization skills to improve efficiency and reduce cost.
  • Real-time Data Processing
  • Experience with real-time data processing.
  • Stream Processing
  • Experience with stream processing.
  • Cloud Security Controls
  • Knowledge of cloud security controls including tenant isolation, encryption at rest, encryption in transit, key management, vulnerability assessments, application firewalls, SIEM, etc.
  • Mission-Critical Technology Components
  • Experience building and supporting mission-critical technology components with DR capabilities.
  • Infrastructure and Application Security
  • Exposure to infrastructure and application security technologies and approaches.
