Teradata Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Teradata Specialist to join our team and play a key role in the development, optimization, and management of our data warehousing solutions. This is an exciting opportunity for a technical professional with expertise in database administration and development.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and optimizing our Teradata environment, ensuring high performance, reliability, and scalability. This includes:

  • Database Administration & Management: Perform comprehensive administration, monitoring, and maintenance of Teradata databases to ensure optimal performance, availability, and stability.
  • Performance Tuning & Optimization: Analyze and tune complex Teradata queries, ETL processes, and database structures to improve performance and efficiency.
  • ETL Development & Support: Develop, implement, and support ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes for data ingestion into and extraction from the Teradata warehouse.
  • Data Modeling: Assist in logical and physical data modeling for new and existing Teradata data warehouse components.
  • Troubleshooting & Problem Resolution: Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues related to the Teradata environment, including performance bottlenecks, data discrepancies, and system failures.
  • Backup & Recovery: Implement and manage Teradata backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and business continuity.
  • Security & Access Control: Implement and maintain robust security measures and access controls within the Teradata environment.
  • Reporting & Analytics Support: Provide support for reporting and analytical tools integrating with Teradata, ensuring data accessibility and accuracy for end-users.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain detailed documentation for database configurations, processes, troubleshooting steps, and best practices.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with data architects, ETL developers, BI analysts, and other IT teams to understand requirements and deliver effective solutions.
Required Skills

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Strong expertise in Teradata database administration and development.
  • Proficiency in Teradata SQL, stored procedures, and utilities (e.g., FastLoad, MultiLoad, BTEQ, TPT).
  • Experience with performance tuning and query optimization in a Teradata environment.
  • Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and ETL methodologies.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex database issues and provide effective solutions.
  • Familiarity with Teradata tools for monitoring and management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills for technical discussions and collaboration.
