Job Title: Data Science Manager

As a Data Science Manager, you will lead a team of data engineers, analysts, and scientists to carry out various activities such as project planning, data pipeline creation, and model optimization.

  • Connect with internal/external stakeholders to understand business requirements.
  • Coordinate with relevant teams to gather data artifacts, anecdotes, and hypotheses.
  • Create project roadmaps and sprints for milestones/deliverables.
  • Spin up virtual machines, create, and optimize clusters for data science workflows.
  • Develop data pipelines to ingest data effectively.
  • Assure data quality with proactive checks and resolve gaps.
  • Carry out exploratory data analysis, feature engineering, and define performance metrics prior to running machine learning/algorithms.
  • Research similar solutions before building ML models.
  • Design optimized data models to query relevant data efficiently.
  • Run ML/DL algorithms for business objectives.
  • Optimize and validate these models to scale.
  • Document project artifacts and log failures/exceptions.
  • Measure and articulate the impact of DS projects on business metrics.

The ideal candidate will have a graduate degree in a quantitative field such as computer science, statistics, or applied mathematics.

Key skills required include good programming skills in Python with strong knowledge of Python's numerical, data analysis, or AI frameworks. Experience with large language models (LMs) such as Llama, T5, Falcon, Langchain, or similar frameworks is also essential.

The candidate must be aware of the evolution history of NLP, training data creation, training setup, and fine-tuning. They should also be comfortable interpreting research papers and architecture diagrams of language models.

Additionally, the candidate should be familiar with techniques like Low-Rank Adaptation, Retrieval Augmented Generation, Instruct fine-tuning, Quantization, and have experience with predictive modeling in Python, including time series, multivariable, and causal modeling.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary, as well as comfort working in a dynamic, fast-paced, innovative environment with several ongoing concurrent projects.
