About the Role

As a Release Engineer at Zelis, you will play a critical role in ensuring seamless data releases across our platforms. This is an exciting opportunity to join a talented team and contribute to the development of cutting-edge data solutions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Release Management: Collaborate with stakeholders to handle release processes for data pipelines, platforms, and ML workflows, adhering to defined processes and coordinating deployment efforts.
  • Cross-Geo Collaboration: Work closely with teams across regions to coordinate updates, maintain consistent communication, and ensure alignment on deployment strategies and schedules.
  • CI/CD Pipeline Implementation: Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate data platform component deployments, ETL processes, and machine learning models, leveraging version control and automated testing.
  • Collaboration: Align with Data Engineers, ML Engineers, DevOps, and IT teams on deployment strategies, ensuring seamless integration into the data platform without disrupting production environments.
  • Deployment Automation: Develop tools and scripts to automate data-related code, infrastructure, and configuration changes, utilizing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices.
  • Incident and Risk Management: Troubleshoot release failures, roll back deployments when necessary, and conduct root-cause analysis for incidents related to new releases.
  • Environment Management: Manage multiple environments (dev, test, staging, production), ensuring consistency across them and implementing tools for streamlined environment creation and resource management.
  • Documentation and Runbooks: Create and maintain documentation, including release notes, deployment procedures, and troubleshooting guides, to ensure repeatability and clarity in the release process.
  • Monitoring and Post-Release Support: Monitor release health, proactively identify performance or functionality issues in production environments, and provide Level 2 (L2) and Level 3 (L3) support in collaboration with the Data Operations team.
Requirements:

We are seeking an experienced Release Engineer who possesses the following qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: Proven experience in release management, DevOps, or software engineering roles.
  • Technical Skills: Strong experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps), version control systems (Git), cloud platforms (AWS or Azure), and data platforms (Snowflake).
  • Soft Skills: Excellent communication skills, detail-oriented, and able to manage complex release schedules in a fast-paced environment.
